What could be causing this shoulder pain?
Have a dull almost piercing (but mild) pain in the middle of my shoulder, it feels like it runs from about the center of my shoulder towards my chest, but not all the way to my chest, just in that general direction.
Doesn’t matter what direction I move my arm, I cannot make the pain happen, it only happens when I breath in through my nose, take a deep breath with my mouth, and sometimes while talking, it almost seems as though when I use my lungs that’s when I feel the pain in my shoulder.
It’s not heart attack/stroke, already had an ekg, bloodwork, all that good stuff done and told my heart is ok.
It’s just getting on my nerves now, no pun intended. Has lasted about 2 weeks, taking 2 advil will stop the pain, but I don’t want to keep taking advil all the time.
Any thoughts are appreciated.
After doing more research I see that an MRI can help diagnose also, can a normal doctor do an MRI or is that a hospital only procedure? Thanks

This could be because of muscle fatigue or dehydration. Try exercising all parts of your body. It also sometimes is due to disuse atrophy. Try out some home remedies. You can also look for information in the web that give you home remedies. I found this website very useful. http://aches.in/cramps.html
A normal Dr can order an MRI, done at an imaging center. It isn’t a fun thing to do when you are already in the pain, then you have to lay still for an hour or more on a hard table. It is worth it though to see what is wrong. You are lucky that ibuprofen is working well for you, especially at such a low dose. Good luck.
It may just be a result of a panic attack. It can be a sign of stress, so you should probably take it easy and not stress yourself out unnecessarily if you can help it. Definitely get an MRI done as well just to be safe. I believe an MRI is something that a normal doctor can do. Good Luck, I hope it’s nothing serious! = )
Hey I got that too!! In fact i have had it for a few years, i got it on and off.. When i take in deep breath then i will feel the pain or rather i would say discomfort. I have to control my breathing for quite some time before i could breathe normally but even so the pain may still be there. Went for a lot of ecg and x ray but nothing is wrong with me.. going to see a cardiologist soon to see anything wrong with me cuz i’ve been getting paranoid and want to have a peace of mind. But what i really believe is that it is really muscle contraction whereby the muscles are tense or tight( i work in the office and the whole day i use the computer). I always feel a lot better after massage so i really recommend u to give massage a try. But it’s not those spa massage, it is a massage that is more specifically on the chest and shoulder area..And if u experience increased flatulence and burping or u feel that quite frequently u find that it’s hard to burp like i do(i can feel the air but it get stuck before it reaches my throat), then i would also recommend that u drink some ginger water. Sometimes it’s just the ”áir” in our body that it imbalance. Wish u all the luck..
