Upper arm/shoulder pain?
About 5 weeks ago i was throwing the Frisbee and later that evening i had excruciating pain in my shoulder. it lasted about a week then subsided leaving a light dull pain. So i returned back to playing tennis and badminton but the pain came back, more so with badminton as this involves more over arm movements. The pain has moved down from the top of my shoulder to the outer upper arm, but it only happens now and then. Also my arm sometimes feels really weak with a sharp pain when i lift it and i find it hard to lift it without supporting it with my other hand. There is no real consistency to the pain just comes whenever without warning. Does anyone have any ideas of what it might be and how it could be treated?

What your describing sounds like a stinger, also called a burner or nerve pinch injury. It is a neurological injury suffered by athletes, mostly in high-contact sports. The injury is always a spine injury as opposed to more serious spinal cord injuries. It is characterized by a shooting or stinging pain that travels down one arm, followed by numbness and weakness. Neuritis, bursitis, neuralgia, rheumatism, frozen shoulder, fibrositis, sprains, strains, “poor circulation” and rotator cuff problems are some of the terms used to describe neck, shoulder and arm conditions. The nerves that come out of the middle and lower neck and upper back, go into the shoulder arm and hand. Chiropractic can be a beneficial treatment for patients seeking noninvasive relief. Typically, the chiropractic treatment for a shoulder and neck injury includes low force manipulation of the affected shoulder, as well as mobilsation of the upper spine. A spinal adjustment involves applying gentle, low force mobilisation to the affected joints. The chiropractor may also advise the patient to rest the affected arm, apply cold to reduce inflammation and perform appropriate stretches depending on the individual.
You might be experiencing rotator cuff injury or an impinged shoulder. Try strengthening your shoulder muscles to prevent injury and pain thru Simple Stretches, Range Of Motion and Strength Exercises. This worked for me. Been suffering from impinged shoulder for a long time. No meds or surgeries gave me the relief I am looking for. Only these exercises gave me long time relief.
