To apply heat or cold to a (JOINT) shoulder pain after a boxing training and weight training?

I just started taking boxing training a year ago, but between lifting weights and boxing sparring. I have this shoulder pain around the JOINT, at 32 yrs old. I applied heat but the pain elevated more…..what can i do to made it better????, as i really love going to do boxing with weight training daily.

JSatt’s advice is good but limited in effect. http://hubpages.com/hub/Speed-healing-of-trauma-injuries-through-self-directed-regeneration will allow you to fix the damage or distressed tissue directly.
Ice it immediately after your workouts. This will help a lot by reducing swelling. Later, when it starts to stiffen, if it does, that’s when you can apply the heat.
