Shoulder pain related to pregnancy?
Yesterday i woke up with EXTREME shoulder pain on the left side of my body. It aches at all times, no matter what i am doing.
So i called Telehealth Canada today (which is, if you are in the States, a toll free number you can call to find out if you should go to the hospital or not) and told them what was going on. At first they were asking me if i had ever had a heart attack, which i havent. After i told them i was 18 weeks pregnant they started to ask me tons of questions about my pregnancy, like if it was an eptopic pregnancy or if i was at risk for a miscarriage (all of which i am not) but still kinda freaked me out.
So i guess this all leads to my question. Has anyone ever had extreme shoulder pain while pregnant? Have you ever heard of shoulder pain being a symptom of something wrong with the pregnancy?
Thanks in advance!

Sometimes shoulder pain can be a sign of an etopic pregnancy, but you’re beyond that stage.
The funny thing about the body is that pain is manifested through the body. Your shoudler hurting may be due to a nerve pain or maybe just due to you laying on it funny. It’s hard to say.
I would bring it up at the next appointment, but there’s nothing to worry about immediately. If you’re bleeding or cramping terribly, head to the ER ASAP. If not, don’t worry too much.
You probably slept on a nerve!
No big deal. Shoulder pain has nothing to do with pregnancy unless you’re carrying your baby in your arm!
