9 days a go i was pretty frustrated at practice and threw pretty hard for at least an hour. The next day my shoulder was in severe pain. every time i threw i felt like crying so i got it checked out 4 days ago and they want to do a MRI tomorrow. the physician told me not to throw. I threw today to check it out. and i was pain free. If i tore something in my muscle or pulled it, could my shoulder have healed. What are your thoughts.

Depends what actually happened to your shoulder. Rather than a strain or tear, it quite likely would have been a subacromial space inflammation or bursitis, so whilst there is not actual damage, the repetitive movement of throwing causes irritation to certain tissues. These tissues do recover quickly, as long as they are not constantly provoked. But they are situated in a rather confined space; so once swelling begins they make the space even smaller, thus setting up a vicious cycle of irritation. Luckily enough it settled down by refraining from throwing – I say luckily because shoulders are notorious for remaining problematic once they start.
Glad it’s better, yes it could well have healed, but I suggest being a little less zealous with the throwing from now on!
