Can’t totally rule out bursitis, Marie, but my instinct is to tell you to grab a washcloth and run some ice cold water on it and drape it over your shoulder for about ten to fifteen minutes, changing it if it starts to get warm and reapplying it cold again. That will help to reduce the inflammation and consequently the pressure inside your shoulder and may alleviate the pain for a bit. A chiropractor could probably clear that out for you in one visit. Something is out of alignment in your shoulder. It might be the muscles are just upset. I go to a chiropractor and the results are always impressive. Use that washcloth idea every hour for about ten to fifteen minutes. The cold water will also get more blood flowing through that area of your body and help to carry away a lot of the congestion which is causing the pain.
Your muscles are aggravated or it could be slightly out of joint. You might want to see a sports doctor who specializes it that type of injury. I have much the same problem, but mine was injured while I was replacing a brake drum on a semi trailer.
Maybe a touch of arthritis, every age can get it.
Don’t use salt for awhile.
You need a doctor to look at that- it could be anything- have you pulled your shoulder lifting something heavy lately or slept awkwardly. I tried treating a pain in my shoulder myself for many years and it turns out the problem was actually with my neck and i had an injury left over from whiplash when i had an accident over 24years ago. Until you see a Doctor you cannot really tell whats going on and no one on here will be able to tell you because it needs a medical professional to have a proper look.
It could be something environmental, look at your life style, e.g. computer desk or something repetitive at work.
Whatever specialist you decide to see will ask you questions about your life style before any treatment.
