Really bizarre back/shoulder blade pain, looking for answers.. please help?
Hello,
I have been having a strange back pain for a few months – close to a year now. Also, I am only 18 years old and in pretty good health. I’ve been to the doctor, had tests ran, x-rays. They don’t know whats wrong. This pain is in both shoulder blades(not the shoulder itself.) and back. They feel like knots almost. The "knots" start at the top of the shoulder blade and then go down to lower back. They aren’t like normal knots you get in your back though, they are thin and aren’t round shaped.. they just go straight down along the shoulder blade. It is a severe, deep pain. When I move my neck or even twist my head a certain way, the pain is worst. My doctors have prescribed me many muscle relaxers thinking that this was a muscle spasm but to no avail, no muscle relaxers worked for me.. even the strongest ones. I can’t recall any injury or event that would contribute to this pain, it kinda came out of no where and hasn’t lessened at all. The pain is constant and sometimes worse on one side than the other. The "knots/bumps" are visible and can be felt but no one knows what this is. It leaves me to believe it isn’t a muscle spasm consider no muscle relaxers have helped, at all. Does anyone have any idea what this could be? Please help, because I am at a dead end as well as my doctors!
Anyone have something to say other than spam? Anyone ever experienced this before? Its really painful.

OK the pain that you see to be describing is consistent in both location and deepness with rib misalignments. When the rib heads are misaligned, it can cause all sorts of pain. It can even cause the muscles to pull in ways they are not meant to and cause lower back pain in addition to the pain at the locations along you shoulder blades. In addition, they can make lumps in the back that you can feel and they also will feel deep.
I would recommend that you see a chiropractor. They specialize in this type of condition. I have seen many patients with similar symptoms that had a lot of relief after a rib adjustment.
I hope this helps. I wish you the best.
I guess it should be easy to agree that this is muscle of one kind or another doing this. If that is the case then what is needed is to get those muscles released and stretched out to get rid of those knots. Here is the best way I know of to do that:
Back:
(do from a sitting position)
Place your left hand on your left leg next to your body. Place your right hand over your left shoulder and find the muscles next to your spine and press on them and hold. After 30 seconds slowly lower your body forward, keeping your left arm fairly straight as you do. When you reach your lap remain there for another 10 seconds, release the pressure but remain there for another 30 seconds. Then reverse your hand positions and do your right side.
