Is it normal to have shoulder pain during pregnancy?

I’m 9 weeks pregnant and sometimes i get a dull ache in my shoulder, almost at the tip. It lasts for a couple minutes to sometimes hours. I don’t seem to have any other abnormal symptoms besides a few common pregnancy symptoms. Has anyone ever experienced this during your pregnancy and went on to have a "normal" pregnancy?

Yeah it’s normal. That used to always happen to me too, i’m 17 weeks now.
I’m 10 weeks pregnant and I have been a bit achy all over my back area and shoulder region since about 7 weeks pregnant. I asked my GP about this and she said it quite normal as long as I’m not in excoriating pain… also no bleeding, bad cramping etc. Our bodies are going through some pretty crazy stuff at the moment… so it can be normal to experience the odd pain from any part of the body!!
Please see your GP if you are at all worried and also if the pain gets worse! Good luck xo
Well it’s not really normal I’d say, but also not something to cause much worry. I had shoulder pain like that for a few years, before it finally got diagnosed as bursitis. I have it in both shoulders. I’m not saying it’s what you have, but I can tell you that I do tend to have more "flare ups" with it, when I am pregnant. Don’t know why really; maybe just the physical stress that pregnancy puts on the body. But the way you are describing your pain, is pretty typical of bursitis. It’s just an inflammation of the bursae in your shoulders (can also occur at the hip as well) that’s caused by repetitive movements over the years or heavy carrying (such as a heavy backpack), or improper posture at the computer…all of which contributed to mine. Usually the doc will just prescribe anti-inflammatory meds (like naproxen sodium), but being pregnant, we can’t take them…so I just suffer thru! I would mention it to your doctor though. It may be bursitis or it may be something else; a muscle spasm or something…always better to ask than to suffer though!
Yes I am 22 weeks preggo and I had very bad shoulder pains. Shoulder and back pain are normal, when you get farther along other minor pains are too. It’s just your body stretching from the growing baby. And your going to have the back and shoulder pain as your stomach gets bigger because all the weight is getting pulled down and strains your muscles. I have horrible back pains, yours might not be so bad because i got into a car accident and have fluid in my back while i was preggo but minor aches and pains are normal. I just started getting Braxton Hicks contractions and they are normal too when you get into like you 5th month or so. Good luck with the baby. hope my answer was helpful!!!
Gas can cause shoulder pain and sometimes it is sharp and painful in between the two bones at the top of your shoulder. This is probably the case if it comes and goes (as gas frequently does when you are pregnant). Its caused from a nerve near your colon that happens to run by your shoulder. You can relieve the pain by doing a yoga position like downward dog (knees and chest on floor butt in the air).
