Is it normal to have pain in shoulder muscle when playing guitar standing?

I’ve messed around with guitar for about a year and I’ve gotten serious about learning now and when I put the shoulder strap on and stand with my electric, it almost immediately hurts the muscle where it rests. Is this normal because I get this same pain when I lift stuff alot or carry something around. Is it because I am home schooled and hardly ever carry anything on my shoulders because I don’t use a book bag? Will this pain go away?

its a very common problem. padded straps can help, a lighter guitar, or the angle you hold it at. try putting the srap so that the guitar is hanging low on your body. it distributes the weight more. you also might want to try working out. if your shoulder is hurting you with lifting and stuff you dont have the proper muscle mass do be lifting it properly. which is another thing. when youre carrying equipment of something. life with your legs, not your back
u might be gripping ur neck too hard if its ur left shoulder that hurts that puts stress on u. or ur strap is too high or too low so u either have to postion ur back weird or curl ur arm in crazy ways. try sitting down with the guitar for a while. also!!!! u might be playing the guitar and raising the neck upward likt many guitarists do.. dont do that, if u think u need to then u need to reposition ur strap
you’re probably just putting all the stress on the wrong part of your body. maybe you should find a lighter electric guitar to play
thats why i love mine, its a les paul ultra, witha cutaway back, which is nice because it takes off the weight. but yeah, or try putting padding down but like, try adjusting the strap, get it comfortable!!!!!!!
