Is an intense burst of shoulder pain (for mom) a few days after birth a symptom of something?

My wife is concerned about some pain she had that is not due to soreness or fatigue. I can’t find anything online or in our books about this. It only happened once and lasted for about 5 seconds.

if it has only happened once it may be a fluke.
if it were to happen again, tell her to contact her doctor.
congrats on your new baby
It is very common for moms to get tendinitis or bursitus from using a part more than usual. I didn’t have this same thing – I had a tendinitis that lasted months in my wrist. Not fun, but it should pass if she takes it easy on the affected part.
shoulder pain can sometimes be a symptom of a heart attack.
I would probably go to my doctor if it was me, but I am a bit of a worrier. If she gets this again I would definately go in, it may be a sign of bleeding. Did she have any complications? If she hemoriged or if her placenta didnt come out right I would go in right away. If not and her delivery was normal then she is probably fine. The reason I think it could be from bleeding is because a ruptured tubal pregnancy will cause pain in the shouler. I hope she is fine, good luck
It could be gas, especially if she any anethesia during birth. I had that problem when I had surgery and they used gas to knock me out. The best advice I can give is to have her see her doctor as soon as possible.

I would call the doctor or emergency room and get checked out. A blood clot can feel like that as well, and those are dangerous.
