I have a prescription for a very mild muscle relaxer for shoulder pain, and now I may be preggo?

I took half of one about a week ago. Now I am having preggo symptoms. I am concerned that if I AM, then I might have caused some sort of damage? Of course I will be discussing this with the doctor if my test comes out postive…I don’t know what I would do if I hurt a baby by this medicine. Please help.
I’m so grateful for the reassurance, thanks so much everyone.

I’m not only pregnant now, but this is my third, so I feel like an old hand with this kinda thing. I think you are right to discuss it with your doctor, but it seems like you just need a little reassurance right now.
Let me tell you that your baby is almost certianly fine. If you only took a half of one, it’s unlikely that the baby was exposed to much if any of the drug. As early as you are, the baby might not even have implanted and been hooked up to your blood supply yet to have been exposed at all. Most birth defects from drugs are caused by repeated exposure and/or extremely high doses. Oh, and just so you know, the placenta’s job is not only to transfer good things to your baby, but to keep bad things out. Chances are that in such a low dose the placenta didn’t let any of it cross over. The chances of a mild musle relaxer in a low dose causing severe defects are almost infintesimal. To ease your mind even further, call your pharmacist and ask his/her advice. My f-i-l is a pharamcist at a very prominent hospital and it always makes me feel better to ask him about even otc medicines like tylenol.
you definately have to visit your doctor on that situsion. best of luck
if you only took a half of one chances that you harmed your baby will be very slim but by all means don’t take anymore until you find out for sure . You are also right if you are discuss it with your doctor.
I wouldn’t take it anymore before you know. But almost always we don’t know that exact moment we get pregnant and there is a few weeks until we even suspect it. Many women worry about drinks they have had or medications they have taken. Most likely if you are pregnant everything will be fine. I used to take a muscle relaxer called flexoril, and I was taking it the first few weeks of my pregnancy before I knew I was pregnant. My son was born perfectly no problems. Don’t worry so much, but try to relieve your pain with only Tylenol for now. Best wishes to you!
I’m quite sure that your baby will be just fine. A lot of women take things, or even drink and smoke, before they know that they are pregnant. The important thing is to stop as soon as you find out.
I was taking medicine to help me sleep at night, along with diet pills, getting in the tanning bed, and the hot tub. Also took a pain pill when I hurt my leg once. The a week later I found out I was pregnant, As long as you don’t take any more, unless the doctor prescribes it again, you should be fine. Be sure, if you are pregnant, to tell your doctor that you took the medicine.
I strongly doubt it has hurt your baby. I was taking Tegretol before I knew I was pregnant. I took it until about 3.5 weeks when I got an early positive. It is in pregnancy category D. I asked my doctor about it and he said that the umbilical cord does not form until about 6 weeks. Therefore, it is unlikely damage is done. He didn’t say that there was NO chance, just that it was highly unlikely. Also, there is NOTHING you can do about it at this point short of not taking any more medication so worrying will not do you any good.
