Sometimes when I am typing, writing, or just holding my arm a certain way I will get a pain starting from my shoulder blade all that way down my arm. This moring when I woke up my hand was swelled up and very tender.

It could be a couple of things. First, need to know if you have any pain when taking a deep breath? If yes, you more than likely have a rib that is not moving correctly and is referring pain into your arm. This could also be coming from tight muscles around the shoulder girdle. Have a friend or loved one push on the muscles around the shoulder blade, where the shoulder meets the arm pit on the back side. If you find a spot that recreates the pain you need a massage. If the pain is generated from the other side of the shoulder blade (closer to the spine), you need an adjustment from a Chiropractic Physician. Another question. Do you have any numbness or tingling in the hand during the day? If so you may have carpal tunnel syndrome. You may also have poor circulation to that arm if you lay on it at night or put it under your pillow. It would then be sore and swollen in the morning. Do you have high blood pressure? If so, go get it checked again to make sure everything is okay. Do you have arthritis? That can cause swelling and soreness as well. All that said, it sounds like a joint/muscle problem, go see a chiropractor and massage therapist.
Needs exercise with the help of a psychotherapist.
What type of pain? Dull ache? shooting pain?
You may have a trapped nerve. I’d go see a doctor, who can send you to a physio or try to work it out himself.
I agree with Slappy. This is medically known as entrapment neuropathy. Plz go for MRI of vertebral column
