I get a severe pain in my left neck and shoulder when walking for extended distances?
I get a pain in my left neck and shoulder when I walk for 5 minutes or more. It can be casued by dancing and usually takes the same amount of time to start hurting. Some activities dont seem to induce the pain, for example rowing is typically pain free. But cycling causes pain. The pain is accompanied by trigger points on the side of my neck, left trap, below left shoulder blade, left tricep, just across the left elbow towards the inner forarm, and sometimes on my left sideunder my arm pit around the top of the rib cage. I can usually calm the pain down by stopping walking, taking deep breaths, and stretching neck and shoulder. Stressfull situations can cause the same pains and trigger points,

check your posture. Do your shoulders slightly hunch forward? you could be getting cramps in your smaller stabilizer muscles. It wouldn’t occur during rowing becuase you are using the full muscle set but more likely to occur when walking because the weight of your arms is hanging their bouncing around.
dont walk for extended distances (drumroll symbol crash!)
Just kidding.
could be anything from a pinched nerve to herniated or buldging disk.
try to do stretches where you can feel the source, and if you can, see a doctor (orthopedic).
It could just be nerves, or worst case scenario, it could be a heart problem. Go to a Doctor and have it checked out.
It sounds like your spine is out of allingment. Try a chiropractor. My neck gets tender every now and again, but a trip to the chiropractor helps. It is amazing what your spine does. Also, try to ice the sore spot, 20 minutes on 30 min off.
