I am a 48 year old female. I have had shoulder pain on my left side that radiates down the outside of my arm.?

At first my doctor said that it was tennis elbow. This has been going on for about 6 months or so. In the last month or so it is now doing the same thing on my right shoulder with the same symptoms as the left side. I had some chest x-rays done and my doctor told me that I have an enlarged lymph node. What does this mean?

I think it means that you need to have more tests done. The Lymph nodes are part of a system that becomes active when you are fighting some type of infection.
Depending on which lymph node, it could be any number of things. Since you have had problems for so long, maybe you can get them to check this out further.

sorry to hear about your pain. i have a swollen lymph node in my neck since i was 16. at first it caused me some pain in my neck and down my shoulder as it was pressing against a nerve, swollen lymph nodes are nothing to worry about as long as they do not turn cancerous. mine took 2 years to go down but its still slightly swollen, it does not cause me any more pain, the pain can be scary because it feels so deep inside but if the doctor says there is nothing seriously wrong you should believe him. there are certain procedures that can damp the pain. it is estimated that over 80% of the population have swollen nodes in the neck or armpits and never know about it. if it was to be serious im sure you would have had other symptoms by now since it has been 6 months, but explain to your doctor that you are worried
