How severe is this neck, shoulder, and back pain?
My friend has been having back trouble for months now but just recently it has gotten worse. She can feel it all the way from the lower back up into her lower scalp and it is persistant pain. Currently her neck is unable to move from pain and she "just wants to rip it off". Also when she would bend her neck looking towards the ground, and would rotate her head side to side you could feel a vein like object jumping from one side of the vertebrae to the other. I don’t have that so I was wondering if it was abnormal and what is it?

Instead of trying to treat this herself, she needs to go to a dr and be checked.THIS SOUNDS LIKE DISC problems in her neck She needs a complete medical exam MRI and evaluation
I suggest that the sooner she gets to a dr, the sooner they will treat and she will feel better.
Hopefully a physical therapist can provide some relief.
IE: Massage therapy, estim, ultrasound and the she can be give light exercises to do.
I kinda know exactly what you are describing. I suffered a neck injury and went thru treatment/ – I am awaiting an cervical injection. I have waited too long and have complete numbness on my r side (workmen’s compensations fault) of my face, ear and head. She is suffering from a neuralgia too- which means a nerve is affected, probably pinched.
In the mean time, there are ways to get some relief. Find a swimming pool that is used for Pool therapy and go into the deep end covering shoulders and try and let that warm water relax and keep moving it.
When going to bed- use either a cervical( roll ) pillow or you can do this. take a towel and roll it and put it under your neck Purchase a cervical neck pillow for support when in a chair.
not a doctor, but it sounds serious…..is she seeing a doctor?
My mom was seriously injured in a car accident some years ago….(about 15 yrs.) and she still has serious problems….she had surgery last year and is currently attending pain management couseling and physical therapy…and just think, she is doing much better than just a few years ago!
Back, neck and spinal injuries are not to be taken lightheartedly,…..seek medical advice (when she meets a doctor she doesn’t feel is helping her, tell her to look for another one!)….the longer she goes without medical attention the worse it can get…..
I also have a pinched nerve in my shoulder; pain starts at the top of my shoulder and radiates up my neck and down my arm….I did seek medical advice, physical therapy, but it didn’t seem to do anything for me….
Good luck….
