First of all, I’m sorry about the pain…definitely makes it harder to play.
My only advice…would be to make sure you stretch out really well before you play. I always spend 5-10 min stretching alone before I even hit balls at a driving range.
Make sure you stretch correctly though….there are certain stretches that work out your lower back and shoulders.
Lastly, if you’re able to, maybe invest in 1 or 2 lessons from a golf pro. I don’t know your about your swing etc, but some of the pain might be a result of an improper swing technique etc…..I don’t know…but after reading Golf Digest for years…there are certain swing "styles" that can result in certain types of injuries etc.
PS…maybe talk to your Dr…about some over the counter pain killers, or one of those Thermal Care heat wraps etc.
Good luck with your game!
don’t play! get your ass in shape!!
Well possibly it has to do with you and your brothers swing , I have had two back surgeries last one was a two level fusion in my lower back I have no pain whatsoever when I play , what I did was go to a PGA certified golf teacher and he video taped my swing and fine tuned my swing so it does not strain or put any strain on my lower back , but remember a proper golf swing should not be hurting your back anyway , it was one of the best investments I have made , I am a single digit handicap and I can consistently drive the ball in the 300’s , so maybe you might want to give it a try it might work for you , because its no fun playing golf in pain .
Good Luck !!
IF your over swinging in your efforts to kill the ball, then there is your mistake.
A golf swing is like throwing a stone…you do not have to get all physical to get the stone to send it on its way…same thing in golf…find a easy swing that is comfortable with your body and stay with it…if the ball travels less than what you desire in distance, then deal with it…play within those distance…it a whole lot better than coming home all messed up due to the fact that you were trying to throw a boulder of a size of a golf ball.
Make sure that you are well warmed up before starting your round. Good stretching exercises are an absolute must for any golfer and if you’re having back issues it’s doubly important that you protect yourself from injury. There are many golf specific stretching/warm up exercises that you can do that will be very helpful.
I also make sure that I have some ibprophon (spelling?) with me and if my back starts to bother me I take a couple while I’m on the course.
Stretch them out before your first swing. It couldn’t hurt to go to the gym and work on toning them up either. I was in a car accident almost two years ago and strengthening my back is always a priority. I can definitely see the difference in my drives now.
