how can i get rid of the worst shoulder pain ever?
im 14 years old, and starting in about november, i was getting bad shoulder pains in the same spot. it was bad then, but now it’s only gotten worse. i used to be able to ignore it but now it’s so painful that i can’t even focus in school, this knot is huge too, it begins below the shoulder blade, then a little bit of it is under the shoulder blade and then the rest it about up to my neck. i used to think it was because i carry a somewhat heavy backpack all day at school, but it’s been chronic on only one shoulder. ive tried the rolling on the golf or tennis ball thing, and ive gotten my mom to massage it, nothing seems to work. i don’t know what i can do to make this pain go away. i take ibuprofen but it wears off quickly. i just want all this pain in my shoulder to go away. should i see a doctor about this? or is there another alternative? please help this pain is about to drive me crazy.

It sounds as if you may have bursitis…it is an inflamation…they can give you steroid shots for that…cortisone…no you WON’T grow a beard or get muscles so don’t worry…but talk about a relief!!! OMG!! I suffered with it too until I got a couple shots…no problems since. Good luck!
Yes, you should have an MRI done. You may have a torn rotator or other problem. See a doctor.
Think doctor should be your first stop, then maybe you’ll need physio too Hope you get some relief soon.
you should proberly see a doc because it sounds kinda bad. You really don’t know what happened? Maybe you sleep on it wrong every night, I don’t know, that’s a long time to be in pain. Hope you figure something out and get to feeling better!
YES, you want to see a doctor. You naturally avoid aggravating the pain and end up using your body differently–incorrectly. That causes more problems. The longer it goes on, the more physical therapy you will need to correct it.
Hydrate more during the day to help relieve the pain, stretch when you wake up in the morning or before you go to sleep. I would also take a nice warm bath with salt in it and marinade my body for best relaxation. When out of the bath, have your mom massage your back, shoulders and neck area again because your muscles will be much more loose and will cooperate more during the massage. Also, pay attention to the way you sleep, you might be sleeping improperly, or no getting enough of sleep.
If the pain continues after a few days of doing this, (which I’m almost positive it won’t) I would see your Doctor and see what he/she would recommend. The people who have answered above me (not all, but some) have gone to extremes with MRI or inflammatory disorders. Why spend unnecessary money when you can probably fix the problem yourself. Again, as I said before, try what I’ve recommended, and if the pain persists, go ahead and ask your Doctor for some aid.
Hope you heal quickly. Take it easy.
I would definitely go and see a doctor as soon as you can. It may possibly be a problem with your cervical spine. You may have a problem with one of your discs in your neck or one of the vertebra (bones). All of the nerves that run to our shoulders, arms, hands and upper back come from our neck and if there is something in there that is pushing on the nerves then this can cause all of the symptoms that you are having. It is very uncomfortable and can take a long time to go away if not taken care of quickly. The doctor should order an x-ray and MRI and will probably give you something to help with the pain until the results come back and they can hopefully find the problem. There are many treatment options available for back pain so don’t worry it will go away. You just have to find what works for you. I wish you all the best!
Sounds like you need to build up your shoulder muscles. The pain could be caused by the fact of this heavy back pack pressing down on the muscles and nerves as well near the top of your neck which aggrivates the muscle and hurts like a mother!
When this pain starts, try drawing your shoulder blades backand together without shrugging too much then drawing them dwon to your feet in one motion.
I had this and nearly overdosed on painkillers because the pain was so bad, but the physio told me that it was because of the pressing down near the base of the skull like I’ve said, good luck and I hope the pain stops soon for you.
