I was involved in a car accident just over 10 weeks ago. I was sitting in the front passenger seat of my friends, with my left arm and leg resting on the door, when another car collided with use, they hit the door and Tyre where I was sitting, the car that hit us was slightly bigger. On trying to open the door I found I would not even open halfway. The car was later written off. I felt no pain immediately after the crash but my shoulder and neck started to hurt within the following half an hour, I was diagnosed with a sprained shoulder and whiplash injuries due to the impact of the car hitting us, I was advised to take ibuprofen and paracetamol, a little after I got home I noticed a pain in my left leg where the top of my leg and hip join, the pain is an aching sharp pain which makes, standing, sitting and sleeping uncomfortable.

I went to the doctor a few days later but he said not to worry about it. Over the next week the whiplash and shoulder pain was getting better but the pain in my leg seemed if anything worse the doctor bent my leg and said it is not nerve damage it must be soft tissue damage, a few days later I discovered not only did I have pain but the joint in which I have pain is clicking when I walk if you put your hand over the area you can feel it with every step.

6 weeks after the accident I had to see a private doctor through the insurance company who advised physiotherapy and said if that didn’t work I may need an operation. I went back to my own doctor who referred me over a week ago to local hospital but only after I made a fuss and told them the private doctor had recommended it.

I am young (only 21) and have no previous hip/leg complaints.
I have not been x-rayed or scanned and it seems the doctors are reluctant to diagnose or advise me as to what my injury is or how to manage it.
I was prescribed Arthrotec 8 weeks ago and Dicofenac sodium last week when the other medicine run out.

Does anyone know what this pain maybe?
How can I control manage the pain?
What is the likely hood of having to have an operation and what does this involve?
I have had this pain for more than 10 weeks now, isn’t this a long time to suffer from soft tissue damage?
I was off work 2 weeks with the pain and have been unable to go back full time due to this leg pain (I work with children) will I be bale to return to work full time?

Please do not tell me to go back to the doctors as I have been several times and they are not really helping they are vague when I ask questions and are reluctant to help or advise me as to how I can help control the pain and treatment I may need.
Thank you
