Hand pain from computer use: cold or hot treatment?
Frequent computer use sometimes cause me a lot of pain in my right hand, right shoulder/neck, or both, especially when I have to use the touchpad on my laptop as opposed to a real mouse. I know I need to be concerned about preventative measures, but when I do have pain is it better to apply hot or cold treatment? I’m actually typing with my left hand now as I rest my right on an ice pack, but I’d think a cold pack would be quite uncomfortable on my shoulder.
Any suggestions?

First cold pack and then heat afterwards. Both are good for you. Cold is usually best for things like muscle spasms. It helps calm them down and the the heat is good for achy sore muscles. Taking a nice long hot shower and just some Tylenol will help.
You could try a topical aspirin product, such as Icy Hot.
