For my entire adult life and possibly longer, I’ve had head, neck, shoulder, and back pain. As strange as it sounds, I couldn’t pinpoint the cause to my neck because every part of me hurt. Eventually, I had the proper MRIs and they revealed that I have various mild to moderate bulges – 4 total – in my cervical spine. It also revealed a loss of lordosis (the curve of my neck is reversed) at C4-C5. I also have back pain and muscle spasms. Sometimes I also get really bad spasms in the muscles that run from my job to my collar bone.
All the doctors wanted me to try conservative treatment. I respect that and did try, but physio and meds just don’t help.
What can I do? At this point, I’m willing to consider surgery. I just can’t live my life in pain, unable to sleep easily, and with constant tension. Stress severely aggravates my condition, amplifying the pain.
Please only respond if you have something positive or helpful to say.

Basically, my understanding is I have a dead nerve in my back that causes shoulder pain after a long day. The winged scapula started maybe 2 years ago. Have PT scheduled, but is surgery something I should consider? I’ve probably have had the problem for 10 years, just recently bothered to start getting a diagnosis and treatment. Will it get worse?

im only sixteen and i don’t usual get aches (except for in my back), but this is ridiculous. i have had a very bade pain in my left shoulder blade muscle for a weak now. its not the soar kind of feeling, it feels naughted up and out of place. i only feel it when im in certain positions though (and im tired of positioning myself stiffly and straight so i don’t feel the pain), especially when i lower my neck i feel the pull (i guess those muscles are connected) and the lower i go the more painful. i tried massaging, moving it in different motions and even push ups. my mom says that its my heavy book-bag so i emptied the weight out a bit, and i try different sleeping positions. ive had back and shoulder pains before but this is ridiculous and i need relief.
what should i do? and what caused it (so i can prevent it)?

My husband has bulging discs in his cervical spine. He’s had 1 epidural injection and is still having a lot of pain in his neck. His other symptoms (shoulder pain, numbness and tingling in hand/fingers) has gone away, so he has had some relief from the injection. I wondered if anyone who has had similar experience has tried cervical traction and if so, did it help? Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
Has anyone tried going to a chiropractor for a few sessions and found relief from bulging disc pain?

I’m 25 y.o. i don’t have money to see a doc. I have a sharp pain in left upper side of my body for 5months without any break. most of the time it’s like a huge hole close to the shoulder. I can’t lye down on the back or left side. i’m always tired. If it’s a muscle problem can Anti-Inflammatory Medications for Pain Relief help?…

I had a severe pain through my lower neck, shoulder blade, arm and numb hand n fingers all on my left side. The X-ray shows bone spurs on the right side of neck. Luckily my chiropractor relieved most of the pain, but I still have numb hand n fingers. Now I need a MRI. Has anyone had this before?
