We have an 8 year old Cav King Charles Spaniel who has pain in his shoulder joint.
X-rays at vets confirm he has calcification between the joints around his neck causing sharp stabbing pain.
The vet put him on a course of Previcox which worked brilliantly and explained this may be all he needs BUT if the pain returns he will need to be on meds for the rest of his life (Cavs can live to 12-14 years so that’s 4 – 6 years).
So, rather than pay heaps of $$$$$ for a few tabs at a time via the vet we’re looking for an alternative that we can use on our Cav that won’t harm his liver etc, will ease his pain and won’t kill us financially.
We live in Brisbane, Queensland so obviously stuff only available in the US / UK etc may not work as it could be difficult to import them. Prefer natural if possible and know about glucosamine but please note it is not arthritis but calcification (small bits of bone) that are forming in the space between the bones of his spine.
Many thanks
Sadly there is nothing more the Vet can do except alleviate the pain. There is no operation that can be performed.

Soon after I finished treatment in 2004, in the early to mid 2005 I started getting really bad neck, back and shoulder pain. The stiffness I felt towards the end of 2004 which causes me to have limited movement with my neck and shoulders, I also get a lot of cramps in my neck that hurt like hell but go away after a few minutes. I can sit still and can feel like a muscle in my shoulder area to jump like crazy, happens in my upper back and neck. These jumps are not a ordinary twitch once in a while, they are really big nerver or muslce jumps. It feels like as if muscle, tissue, tendence, etc.. are so tight and stiff that they flip out from time to time, I could be fine one day with no jumping on my neck or shoulders, but then there are days that my upper back, shoulders and neck bug out like crazy. The muscles and tissues are so tight and rough in my neck its noticable just looking at my neck, once you touch my neck it feels like your touch bones but its all muscle. I need help, advice?

I got a sunburn, and I was eager to peel off the dead skin and ended up doing it too early so now I have two shoulders covered in raw skin and dried pus or something. It hurts really bad and I can’t move my arms without it hurting more, I tried to put on aloe but it burned super bad. Is there anything at walgreens I can put on it?
Now I have to go find yogurt….

I was in a car accident and hurt my neck and shoulder. Saw orthopedist and had shots and physical therapy. They had me on NSAIDS for the inflamation in the shoulder. These in turn gave me ulcers. They hurt so bad I had to go to the ER and was admitted for 3 days.
My question is ( and of course the lawyers being vague and won’t answer me) , would this be considered as part of the pain and suffering( the surgeon said the ulcers were the type you get from NSAID use)?
Also I have no history of ulcers, and was not using NSAIDS prior to the prescription ones.

I’ve been having lower back pain for almost half year now. I work at office and i sit all the time I think that’s what caused it. it used to be bad, when i bend over backward it hurts and comes with burning sensation and sometimes sharp pain. I started to exercise more and now i can bend my body without hurting. it’s just that i still can’t sit too long or i’ll feel burning sensation, there are times if it gets bad i’d feel like i want to throw up.
can my pain go away if i simply stay active more? or do i need to seek for medical treatment because of the abnormal characteristics such as burning sensation or sharp pain?
my legs are fine, i dont feel numb or anything on my leg. just back pain and right shoulder pain from using the mouse.

I haven’t lifted or strained myself in any way in the past month or so. It has really started hurting for about 2 weeks. It hurts throughout the day but really starts to hurt at night. I have been doing the R.I.C.E (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevate) treatment for about a week now and no progress. I really hate going to the doctor but if it is something serious then I will. I’m only 19 years old so I don’t think it’s from "old age"…. Any ideas on what it could possibly be?

My shoulder burns, clicks, goes numb down my arm and feels as though bone is rubbing against bone. Its aweful!!! It was a freak accident at the ocean that led to my problem. Is there anything i can do for my shoulder or do i live in chronic pain?? Should i see a specialist and ask about surgery? Has anyone out there found relief for a situation such as mine?? Please i need answers!!! Thanks… Jeff

Since August I have undergone several episodes where I have pain in the joints of knee and hips and run a fever between 99.5-100 F
When it first began, it was only my left hip and knee. I took advil for two days and it went away. Then a month later it occurred again, this time the pain was severe and again only in my left hip and knee. I was seen by a doctor who gave me daypro and sent me home. It worked for another few weeks. Then I had something else develop facial pain, this brought me to the ER where blood tests were run. My platelets were 65, the doctor diagnosed me with something called Tic Delereaux (sp?). He put me on Tegretol and Prednisone. The treatment worked wonderfully and I had no pain anywhere. I finished the Prednisone last week.
Then suddenly Sunday morning I woke up with bilateral knee, hip and Right shoulder pain. The pain in the shoulder is kind of weird location it is around the clavicle area. Again I have fever.
I’m 33 years old. The doctor I have isn’t the best. He didn’t put me on any meds except the daypro and tell me he though it was psychological due to depression. The doctor who put me on the medicine is the ER doctor. Thankfully, he will be starting his own practice the beginning of Jan. and I made an appointment to see him. I’ll be paying out of pocket, but it is worth it and I’ll also ask him to test me for some of the other stuff. He ran a CBC and a CMP in the ER. Results were slightly elevated WBC’s. Platelets were 65 which is low and elevated Liver Enzymes due to probably me being overweight and fat starts to get deposited in the liver. So I am trying to lose weight. Jan 2nd seems forever away to see the doctor.

Help!
I can’t afford a masseur right now and I have horrible shoulder pain that continues for days on end. This is pain between my neck and edges of my shoulders.
How can that be VERY cheaply or freely rectified without massages?
