I have recently been diagnosed with Lyme Disease… My doctor has prescribed Doxycycline @ 100 mg twice daily for two weeks. I was wondering how long it’s going to take for it to kick in and help the pain subside? I think I am in the second stage of the disease. I have slight swelling in my knees and pain in my shoulders and knees… More tired and exhausted everyday… Thanks in advance!

Well, I know I messed my shoulder up taking out the garbage two weeks ago.
I lifted and threw a large trash can. What I’m trying to determine is which it is; a bruised rotary area or ligaments, or a break in 1 or more bones. Tender to touch on tip of shoulder. Arm is fine except sharp pain in certain positions. the pain has lasted for two weeks.
I’m going to ask a doctor tomorrow, but it can’t hurt to ask here.
This pain wakes me up several times a night, and is excruciating. Keeping my shoulder to the back is starting to become useless to stop the pain. There’s no swelling. Tylenol has been helpful, but this pain reoccurs chronically. I even cut the coffee back to 2 cups a day…
I drive a standard shift car. That has been reduced since the week before Christmas.
I prod around in the joint and feel only 1 area where the pain is, OK well three…
The tip of my shoulder like I said, the joint where the humerus comes into the shoulder.
(I have "Pitcher’s shoulder, huh?") Finally, when I lay flat on my back and use the opposite arm to push in on the shoulder blade, (scapula) the pain just goes completely; instantly. I let go, and the pain is back.
When I let my shoulder go limp and hang as normal, it’s so painful sometimes I’m almost feel like I can’t move or raise the arm. When I gently roll that arm up to where the humerus is outstretched to my side, it’s a relief to the pain. I try to sleep like that but can’t stay like that.
That should be enough for someone like House to figure it out.
I’m sure I’m not the only one with these symptoms from an injury.
I just wonder if there’s a sure way to tell if it’s a break in 1 or more bones, or a torn tendon (ligament) or if it’s a bruised socked or head of the humerus (what has been called "Rotary cup").
Sorry. I spelled socket wrong.
Also to see what bones I’m referring to:

As a teenager I suffered from mild back pain, and a curvature in the spine.
I was diagnosed with Scoliosis, and underwent 12 months of chiropractic treatment. At the end of this I had new x-ray’s taken and was informed that my curvature had in fact, gotten worse. Because of this, I just left, and have been living my life as a normal person.
Now, at 21, my back pain is severe, and becoming an active part of my life. Everyday I experience it, even on my days off when I don’t have to work.
Whats worse is that is now seems to have spread. Most days of the week I find I get a lot of neck pain, knee pain, wrist pain, and incredible shoulder pain.
I’ve been to a doctor, and all they can say is that I have to go ahead and get all these CT Scans and X-Rays, and although I know its the only thing that I can do to find the answer, I simply CANNOT afford them.
Is there anyone out there who can tell me (Without billing me) how serious this is, if this can lead to further complications in life (One doctor decided to inform me that I could be looking at a wheelchair, which not only do I not believe, I’m not to fond of the idea either) and how long I can leave it before dishing out the money that I inevitably will have to do.
Thanks in Advance.

I was in a very severe car accident when I was 15. I was thrown from the car going a good amount of speed.
My doctors never found any injuries to my back, neck, or shoulders (aside from torn R rotator cuff), but I have had severe back/neck/shoulder pain since my accident.
I have been on pain meds. (Norco 10-325- 2 pills 3 times a day, and 600MG of Neurontin 3 times a day) since then.
It does treat the pain, but obviously doesn’t get rid of it.
I go to a Chiropractor, which helps, but also isn’t a permanant solution.
I have had physical therapy, but it never helped.
I am sick of having to rely on pills to make me able to get through a day, and my doctor wants to soon start to slowly decrease the amounts, until I have completely stopped taking them.
I am fine with not taking any meds., but the problem is: the pain is still going to be there, and I can’t bear it without some type of treatment.
What other options, aside from these above, are there?
That are more long-term?
Well, geez, so sorry I have the right to ask a question that you DON’T HAVE TO ANSWER.
I have been speaking to my doctor, and am simply asking opinions of people who hopefully have experienced different treatment methods. I have done some research on different types, and spoke to my doctor about them, but aren’t going to make a decision until I see how other people have reacted to it, and how it has helped (or not helped) them.
Go earn 2 points being a jerk elsewhere. That was completely uncalled for.
Yes, the doctor I am seeing for this now is a pain specialist. We’ve been discussing more medical interventions of treatment (like, spinal blocks and the like) so, I was looking for more answers/experiences like that.
I have a whole ritual of the average pain management methods just like you, though. Lots of heat, hot showers, stretching before bed, vibrating back/neck massagers and pillows.

About two months ago I went to my physical therapist for my shoulder pain. I was diagnosed with tendinitis and had to immobilize it for a while. Since then i have gone back many times for treatment and it had started to get better, until last night I was playing volleyball which originally caused the pain. Through warm ups it was fine and there was no pain then we started a passing drill and there was a pins and needle feeling all through my forearm causing me to go sit down and not play anymore. Once the needles left my shoulder was just as achey as what brought me to therapy in the first place. As soon as i got home I iced and took advil and fell asleep. At three in the morning i woke up and began to vomit, however im not sick and have no flu symptoms could the shoulder cause this?
Oh and im also only 15 therefore the tendinitis is not common for my age

I am a 16-year-old sprinter and have recently been experiencing shoulder pain in most ranges of motion. This is usually the day after doing starts in training (so my shoulder & arm are being thrust backwards), but recently the pain in the shoulder has been lasting longer – when I wake up, moving it in most small directions, etc. When I do a running motion with the arm, the shoulder feels a bit "loose". Can anybody deduct what I may be experiencing and a guideline for recovery or treatment? I am racing tomorrow and would like to know if I should be advised against it.
I offer my infinite thanks to anybody able to help me. Take care.
