Hi, well iv been having chest pain right above my sternum and right shoulder after taking deep breaths. I got drunk this weekend and threw up a lot, can that pain be caused by muscle spasms? Im a healthy 21 year old male and ruling out the possible cause of heart attack, the pains been there for almost 2 days and it seems to be graudually going away. If anyone knows anything i would appreciate it, thank you.

I have had this same experience from throwing up. When you throw up, a lot of your muscles in your chest, abs, and back, tense up. If you do this over and over again, your will definitely have some pretty sore muscles afterward. I would take some ibuprofen and try to stretch out the muscles, which should help them feel better.
You probably damaged your cardiac sphincter (the one at the top of your stomach- google it) from throwing up. The pain can radiate so you feel it in your chest, arms and back. Usually it heals itself but you can give it a little help by taking an over the counter stomach acid reducer (ask the pharmacist). Something to watch out for is heartburn after it heals, it may be a sign you did more damage than you want and you may need to see your doc. You’ll probably be ok though. DEFINATELY lay off the drinking for awhile!
